Dr. Ahmed Waheedullah

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we remember and honor the life and contributions of Dr. Ahmed Waheedullah. He attended Mufeed-ul-anam School, where his academic journey began, and later became a distinguished professor in the Department of Mathematics at Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology (MJCET). Dr. Waheedullah was not only a dedicated educator but also an esteemed member of The Andhra Pradesh Society for Mathematical Sciences (APSMS), where his passion for mathematics found a vibrant community. His legacy extends beyond the classroom, leaving an indelible mark on both the institution and the mathematical community.

Academic Career

In 1980, Dr. Waheedullah joined the Mathematics Department at MJCET, where he embarked on a distinguished teaching career that would leave an indelible mark on the countless students he mentored. His exact date of retirement remains unrecorded, a testament to his enduring commitment to the academic world.

During his tenure at MJCET, Dr. Waheedullah received numerous accolades, including a heartfelt tribute from the MJCET Alumni Association on December 27, 2015. This recognition celebrated his remarkable dedication and marked the completion of 25 years of service to the college.

Contributions to Mathematical Sciences

Dr. Waheedullah's contributions extended beyond the classroom. His research, characterized by its meticulous methodology and dedication to advancing mathematical knowledge, culminated in a notable publication. In October 2017, he co-authored a seminal paper titled "TUMOUR GROWTH PARAMETER ESTIMATION FROM DOUBLING TIMES," published in the International Journal of Engineering, Science, and Mathematics. This collaborative work with Mohammed Arshad Ali of the Deccan School of Management, Hyderabad, India, explored critical aspects of tumor growth estimation.

Abstract of Dr. Waheedullah's Paper:

"Awarness of tumour growth characteristics is important in the treatment of the deadly disease Cancer. Experiments take lengthy time to explore the characteristics, and availability of the required sample size is another drawback in making conclusions about tumour growth characteristics. Mathematical modeling and statistical theory facilitate in predicting results without conducting experiments practically and making inferences about tumour growth parameters from sample characteristics. In this paper, the proliferation rates and interval estimates of proliferation rates with different confidence levels of various human cancer tumours were estimated with the help of tumour growth equation and sampling theory using doubling times from experimental data."

Dr. Ahmed Waheedullah's groundbreaking work in the realm of mathematical modeling for cancer research has left an enduring legacy, impacting both the academic and medical communities. His dedication to education, research, and the pursuit of knowledge will forever be remembered and cherished.

As we reflect on his life and contributions, we extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and the academic community. Dr. Ahmed Waheedullah's memory will continue to inspire generations of mathematicians and researchers, reminding us all of the profound impact one individual can have on the pursuit of knowledge and the betterment of humanity.
